MCCA promotes child care as a service and a profession to senior government and elected officials at all levels, stakeholders, and the general public. We play a constructive role in shaping legislation, regulations, and issues that directly impact on our community of members.

Group Benefit Plan
MCCA’s Group Benefit Plan is designed exclusively for early childhood educators, child care assistants, and family child care providers and provides the most comprehensive plan available to centre employees and family child care providers. The Plan includes individual or family coverage, which allows you to choose the appropriate level of protection whether you are single, have a family, or are integrating coverage with your partners plan. The Child Care Benefits Committee (a volunteer committee of the MCCA) monitors the plan to ensure it is comprehensive and affordable
Who is eligible?
- If your centre participates in the MCCA Group Benefits Plan
- You are a professional or child care assistant MCCA Member in good standing
- You are a new employee
- You have completed a minimum of three months of continuous service at your centre
- You are employed for a minimum of 20 hours/week
** All of the above criteria must be met before enrolling in the plan -OR-
- You are a family child care MCCA member in good standing
- You provide care for a minimum of 20 hours/week

Directors & Officers Liability Insurance
Your MCCA centre
Commercial General Liability Insurance does not cover
wrongful acts. This does not prevent board members from
being sued. Directors & Officers insurance provides
a legal defense and possible compensatory award to a claimant.
This insurance
coverage agrees to reimburse the Boards of Directors for
amounts they are legally obligated to pay for claims made
against them for wrongful acts, including the cost of
defending any such claim. Wrongful acts are usually defined
as meaning any breach of duty, neglect, error, or other
wrongful acts done or attempted. Such claims may be ruled
by a court of law or settled "out of court".

- This policy has a deductible of one thousand dollars
- The limit of liability is dependant upon the limit of coverage purchased. The base limit is $ 1 million, 2 or 3 million is available

Insurance Programs for Facilities
Commercial General Liability Insurance Program
For licensed child care facilities
MCCA
offers all licensed child care centres and family child
care homes the opportunity to enroll in the centre/family
child care Commercial General Liability Insurance Program.
What
is Commercial General Liability Insurance? (CGLI)
CGLI
provides coverage for the bodily injury and property damage
to a third party for which the facility is legally liable.
In addition, associated legal costs are covered. The Community
Child Care Standards Act requires a licensed facility
to have $2 million general liability coverage. The MCCA
program provides a $ 3 million limit. CGLI also offers
coverage for the facilities contents.
