What's happening in the Central Region?
Central Branch had a busy spring. The region arranged three evenings of professional development. On March 19th Nancy Brooks, a local Public Health Nurse provided training on the use of the Epipen, information on allergies and seizures. On April 3 and and March 13 the Nancy Brooks repeated her session which was followed by Nutrition Information. Janelle Botterill, a Registered Dietician provided a wealth of information on reading nutrition labels and healthy meal planning. On April 14 we had a full day workshop with Michelle Grant. 19 individuals took part in the Handle With Care Building Block 2 Series. The afternoon Beautiful Stuff focused on being creative using recycable materials with the children and the process of gathering items. Door prize winners for the day were Edie Storey and Yvette Espey. Our region has purchased some copies of the Energy Bus by Jon Gordon. Some members of the region had attended Jon Gordon’s workshop at conference last year and were excited to get on his bus. We are attempting to circulate this book to various members of the region as an opportunity to improve Workplace Health and Safety. On April 17th a few of us who had read the book gathered at the Café on Prince to discuss the book over some cake and coffee. Resources offered from his website were distributed and we plan to focus on his next book “The No Complaining Rule” in the fall. If you are interested in obtaining these books phone Janice at 857-8910. On April 27th members of the Central Branch celebrated Week of the Early Childhood Educator. We participated in the meat draw held at the Royal Legion in Portage, followed by a delicious meal, socializing and door prizes. If you would like to become involved in the branch or on a committee please let me know. Call Janice at 857-8910 .
